How to Prepare for Your First Lesson
Along with your instrument, bring the following equipment to your first lesson:
Tuner & Metronome
Rosin
Shoulder rest
Make sure that the size matches your violin.
In addition to the materials listed above, you will also need to purchase your own music stand.
Choose a quiet room to have your lesson
For Online Lessons:
You will get the best internet connection by connecting your computer directly to the modem with an Ethernet cable.
Setting up your computer/device
Put your computer on a high enough surface so that your camera is eye level. If the computer is too low or too high, I am unable to accurately observe your violin/viola technique.
If you are using an iPad/tablet, be sure to purchase an iPad tripod or stand.
Get in frame so that I can see both your right and left hands.
Face the camera so that I can see the bow on the string.
Make sure the lighting is not too dark/bright or washed out.
